A statement from Project Pai foundation: July 18, 2018

On Monday July 16th, the Project PAI Foundation (“Project PAI”) was informed by the developers of the PAI Up digital wallet that there had been unauthorized access on the paiup.com website. This website is operated by PAI Up, but the Foundation is issuing this Statement to inform the community of the facts. The developers of PAI Up discovered the unauthorized access shortly after it commenced, immediately took remedial action, and have adopted additional measures to enhance the security on the site - which at publication of this statement is now fully functional. These measures were taken out of an abundance of caution - no user or wallet related information was stored on the website and no data was compromised. This unauthorized access also did not impact the PAI Blockchain in any way - mainnet, github, and the PAI Up wallet continue to operate as normal.

The perpetrator(s) of this attack used the PAI Up website to post a series of unsubstantiated claims about Project PAI, members of the administrative community, and adopters of the project. PAI Up developers took steps to remove these claims from the paiup.com website upon discovering them. However, these claims were still picked up and shared by various outlets. As the community knows, Project PAI has enjoyed a truly astounding amount of support, both from fans around the world as well as from adopters and developers who have devoted scores of resources, time, and energy to help realize Project PAI’s vision. At times, this has also attracted unscrupulous parties whose actions have been aimed at destabilizing and taking advantage of the Project PAI community.

Project PAI has always adhered to regional laws and regulations in every step of development. Project PAI will continue to do so as it builds and expands on the functionality and capabilities of the blockchain, as helping establish the project in new regions and communities.

Project PAI’s vision has always been clear. To allow everyone to create, own, and manage their own Personal AI and its related data by securing said PAI and data on the blockchain. To that end, the Project PAI blockchain contains a unique data sharing layer which allows users to tie a piece of data to each PAI Coin transaction, via a data pointer to a parallel Torrent based network. This is a method of decentralized, anonymized data exchange that Project PAI hopes will bring better data control in this growing AI economy. Project PAI will use this opportunity to continue to improve community management and thanks everyone for their understanding, support, and patience during this time.
